ALTA 1999

The Australasian Law Teachers Conference held at the Law Faculty of Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) 4 - 7 July 1999, attracted 180 delegates from New Zealand, Australia, and from South Africa, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, USA, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

The programme included more than the 77 presentations listed and most of these were printed in a two volume Conference Proceedings distributed to all delegates at the conference.

The very full programme included social events within the historic Old Government Building of the Law Faculty, Te Papa - The Museum of New Zealand, and the Parliamentary Banquet Hall in the Beehive. A special excursion visited the Wairarapa district for several activities and a Taste Wairarapa opportunity.

Brian Brooks, Dean of the Law School and Chairman of ALTA has been delighted with the positive feedback he has received and has passed a warm message of congratulations to Conference Brokers for organising "the best ALTA Conference I have been to". He also enthused about the balloon sculpture from Magic Balloons who provided a magnificent tower for the staircase, and novel table decorations at the two dinner events. Conference Brokers have also received many other congratulatory comments from delegates.

Copies of the papers which have been received are available from the Law Librarian, at VUW Law School. A limited number of published proceedings may also be available for purchase from the Law Library.
